Protocol Parallelization

چکیده

There is increasing concern about the capability of existing protocols to keep pace with communication rates, as rates approach the gigabit range. This assumes a sort of “protocol bottleneck.” Many similar bottlenecks are alleviated by the use of parallelism, so one hypothesis is to “parallelize” protocols. We examine the pros and cons of this hypothesis, and the dimensions to which parallelism might be applied. We distinguish the unique communication issues that result. Our conclusions indicate that conventional parallelism may not be applicable to protocols. New types of parallelism become more significant in this light. These include information parallelism (Parallel Communication) and packet-train parallelism. Keyword Codes: C.2.2, C.2.4, C.5.0

Parallelization of Rich Models for Steganalysis of Digital Images using a CUDA-based Approach

There are several different methods to make an efficient strategy for steganalysis of digital images. A very powerful method in this area is rich model consisting of a large number of diverse sub-models in both spatial and transform domain that should be utilized. However, the extraction of a various types of features from an image is so time consuming in some steps, especially for training pha...

Experience on the Parallelization of a Cloud Modeling Code Using Computer Aided Tools

The purpose of the work reported on is two-fold: The optimization of large-scale earth science applications and the evaluation of the use of automatic parallelization tools. We have applied the CAPO computer aided parallelization tool developed at the NASA Ames Research Center to the Goddard Cumulus Ensemble (GCE) cloud modeling code. We describe how the tool was used for OpenMP parallelization...

Program comprehension engines for automatic parallelization: a comparative study

We compare two systems for program comprehension that are targeted towards support of automatic parallelization: the PAP recognizer currently included into the Vi-enna Fortran Compilation System, and the PARAMAT pattern recognizer developed at Saarbr ucken University. We illuminate the main diierences, the advantages and disadvantages of each approach, and show how both approaches may be integr...

Hardware for Speculative Run-Time Parallelization in Distributed Shared-Memory Multiprocessors

Run-time parallelization is often the only way to execute the code in parallel when data dependence information is incomplete at compile time. This situation is common in many important applications. Unfortunately, known techniques for run-time parallelization are often computationally expensive or not general enough. To address this problem, we propose new hardware support for e cient run-time...

Forwarding and Control Element Separation (ForCES) Packet Parallelization

Many network devices support parallel packet processing. This document describes how Forwarding and Control Element Separation (ForCES) can model a network device’s parallelization datapath using constructs defined by the ForCES model (RFC 5812) and controlled via the ForCES protocol (RFC 5810).

Efficient parallelization of the genetic algorithm solution of traveling salesman problem on multi-core and many-core systems

Efficient parallelization of genetic algorithms (GAs) on state-of-the-art multi-threading or many-threading platforms is a challenge due to the difficulty of schedulation of hardware resources regarding the concurrency of threads. In this paper, for resolving the problem, a novel method is proposed, which parallelizes the GA by designing three concurrent kernels, each of which running some depe...
